English spoken event: The Invasion

Ten years after after the release of his film ‘Maidan’, Sergei Loznitsa resumes his Ukrainian storytelling with ‘The Invasion’, a documentary in which he documents the country's struggle against the Russian invasion. The film consists of thirty short films, each shot at a different time and location over a period of two years, and shows how the war impacts, corrupts, and transforms daily life of the Ukrainian population.

With introduction on Sunday February 23
On February 24, it will be three years since Russia invaded Ukraine. To mark this occasion, we are organizing a special screening of ‘The Invasion’ on Sunday, February 23, with an introduction by film critic Hugo Emmerzael. What kind of cinema emerges from a country that is currently defined by war? And how does Sergei Loznitsa’s ‘The Invasion’ relate to the work of other Ukrainian filmmakers?

Please note: the film is subtitled in English. The introduction will also be in English.
